Feeding our Passion for Travel

Friday we are leaving Dallas, flying to Amsterdam and then Rome where we will board a cruise ship for southern Italy, parts of Greece, Turkey and Israel.  We are not cruisers. This is the Great Experiment.  But don't misunderstand: we know how blessed we are to have this opportunity to travel and to choose our mode of travel.  And after having recently schlepped through the back roads of China, flown by small plane through New Zealand, descended into the depths of Hong Kong's metro system, and yes relaxed on the beaches of Hawaii, we decided it was time to see what all the hoopla is about and take a Proper Cruise.

Okay okay we've been on a couple of cruises before.  One from Athens to Istanbul in the early 80's which was not so wonderful although the sites were amazing. It was the Greek Isles for heaven's sake!  Our second cruise was a trip through the inner passage of Alaska--again amazing scenery, but the ship was a bit huge for our tastes so we did no repeats.  And the third was a river cruise from Paris to Normandy a couple of years ago and as you probably know, river cruising is in a whole different category from ocean cruising.  But don't confuse me with someone who knows what she is talking about--again, we are not cruisers.  Let's see if this experience will change that.
